A note from our founder

Why did I create Kenn?

It started with a table I couldn't stop thinking about.

It was 2018 — I was working with a stylist at the time whose office was in Camp David in Industry City in Brooklyn, NY. The interior was gorgeous and I loved working in the common areas because it was exactly how I would design my dream home, and it made me feel so calm. There was a huge, rich walnut table that had a single black stripe down the middle and I thought the design was so sophisticated.

At the time, Anton and I had just moved into our first apartment together and we couldn't afford much furniture, but needed a coffee table to go with our $150 couch we got from a second-hand retailer. Anton said he could make one for me — he was a woodworker whose parents had previously owned their own furniture making business. So without hesitation, I said okay and told him I wanted something inspired by the table I saw at Camp David. He said the company he was working for had some scraps of wood and other materials left over from a project that he could use, and so he made the coffee table of my dreams.

It grew from that into making dressers, an entire wardrobe, countertops, bed frames, nightstands, etc. and I had a hand in designing most of it. Finally, I convinced him to start Kenn with me so we could share our designs and creativity with others. I want Kenn to have the same impact on other people as the interior design of Camp David had on me — sophisticated, serene, and a deep satisfaction in the space you call home.
